Controls cell cycle checkpoint. May participate in transduction of the DNA damage and replicational stress signals. Inhibits cdc25 phosphatase by phosphorylating it, preventing the entry into mitosis. Required for nuclear reorganization and homologous chromosome pairing during meiotic prophase.
