5-OH-meU from 5-OH-meU:A

FULL NAME: 5-OH-meU from 5-OH-meU:A mismatch

DESCRIPTION:
5-Hydroxymethyluracil is an oxidation damage product derived from thymine or 5-methylcytosine. It is a product of thymine dioxygenase [EC 1.14.11.6]. Additional deamination products such as 5-hydroxymethyluracil are formed when cells are under oxidative stress that is induced either by oxidizing agents or by mitochondrial dysfunction. Oxidation of the methyl group of thymine yields 5-(hydroxymethyl)uracil (5-hmU).
